Here’s some good news for all the children and young people who enjoyed the playing of the bands during Good Nychburris week and who would like to try out playing a brass instrument.
Dumfries Town Band is holding a Summer Band Camp for pupils and students aged nine and over who would like to learn to play the cornet. It is having a free one-week starter course at its band hall in the Noblehill Community Centre, Annan Road, starting on Monday 24 July. Classes will take place between 10.30 and 11.30am each day that week.

“Of course, anyone who can already play a brass instrument will be more than welcome to our rehearsals at any time,” said Paul. “We rehearse in the Noblehill Community Centre from 7.30 to 9.30pm every Monday and Wednesday.”
