Entries are flying in for the solo piping competition at this year’s Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival, and it’s easy to see why with such fantastic prizes on offer for the winning young piper.
One of this year’s sponsors, The National Piping Centre of Scotland, have generously offered the winner of the 14 & Under 4-Parted March (any time signature) / 2 x 2-Parted March (any time signature) category, a free place at one of the Autumn Junior Gathering Weekends (Sat/Sun 7th/8th or 14th/15th Oct) held at The National Piping Centre in Glasgow. The National Piping Centre have also offered two tickets for an evening concert at Piping Live 2023 in Glasgow.
Another event sponsor this year, the very well known McCallum Bagpipes, have also donated a generous selection of piping goods and there has also been sponsorship support from local accommodation and wedding venue providers, Penninghame Estate.
The competition takes place on Saturday 8th July 2023 from 10am at Penninghame Primary School, and is part of the 9th annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival which runs from 7th-9th July 2023.
Entry forms are available on the festival’s official website at www.tradmusic.com but you’ll need to be quick as entries close this coming Monday 3rd July.
