It is Dumfries Cricket Club’s 170th anniversary year, which makes it one of the oldest sports clubs in the town, and the Club are pleased to again be hosting Scotland age-group fixtures at Nunholm this season and that includes a first for the Club on Monday with some international Masters Cricket.
The Australia Over-60 side is touring the UK alongside the Ashes series down south for the Australia Men’s and Women’s sides. After they play their second ‘Grey Ashes’ match against England O60s, Australia travel to play Scotland at Nunholm on Monday the 17th July (2pm start).
The player age-group changes significantly at Nunholm on Wednesday (11am start) with Scotland U16s playing Durham u16s, and at the end of July, for the week of Monday 31st July, the club also hosts the Girls U17s International Tri-Series with Scotland playing visitors Ireland and the Netherlands.
As part of these current Scotland age-group matches congratulations go to Dumfries 1st team bowler James Hobman on his selection for Scotland U19s and for their match against Yorkshire last week.
Meanwhile Dumfries’s Chris McBride, and Scotland Men, just missed out on qualification on Net Run Rate for the upcoming World Cup in India last Thursday in Zimbabwe. A match winning, essential and attacking 123 by Netherland’s De Leede sealed their place with a four-wicket win, equal on points with Scotland, and with only seven balls to spare before Scotland would have qualified. McBride hit 32, with six boundaries, opening for Scotland in their first innings total of 277 for 9.
