More than 90 riders braved the elements to take part in this year’s 10@Kirroughtree mountain bike event at Newton Stewart.
The gruelling event invites teams and individuals to complete as many laps as possible of a 10 mile course at the Kirroughtree mountain bike circuit within a 10 hour time window.
This is the eighth time the event has been hosted by bike club the Galloway Hillbillies.
The Hillbillies organise a range of events throughout the year to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get on their bike.
Club Secretary, Gavin McHallum said:‘It was great to see so many riders turning out in what was really testing weather conditions, we saw some really strong performances and again attracted riders from all over the country to experience the great cycling facilities and routes we have here in Dumfries & Galloway.’
The 10@Kirroughtree is part of Dumfries & Galloway Council’s ‘Summer of Cycling’.
Events range from a Celebration of Cycling on July 22/23 at Penpont to the Glentrool Bikefest, July 29/30.
On August 6 there will be a Family Cycling Festival on the Crichton Campus and on the evenings of August 9/10 there will be a series of cycling themed Q&As including an inspirational talk from world endurance record holder Josh Quigley.
