WOMAN DIES IN EARLY MORNING M74 ROAD CRASH

APPEAL FOR WITNESSES – FATAL ROAD CRASH

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses to a two vehicle road crash between a van and a car which happened at around 0545 hours on Monday 22 December 2014 on the A74(M) northbound carriageway about 1 mile north of Junction 20 (Eaglesfield). One female has been pronounced dead at the scene. The northbound carriageway at the scene is currently closed and diversions are in place to allow a full crash scene investigation to take place.

Police are seeking the assistance of the public to trace the following described man who was given a lift north from the scene of this crash to the motorway services at Johnstonebridge. He is described as a man around 30 years, of Asian appearance, about 6’ tall, dark hair with long sideburns, and was wearing a black coloured quilted Barbour style jacket over a dark jumper which had the letters FC in white on it, dark trousers and may have had a wedding ring. He may have a head injury. This man was last seen at the petrol pumps and then the main building at the services between 0600 hours and 0630 hours this morning. Anyone who can assist in tracing this man is asked to call Police Scotland on 101.
