ANNAN POLICE STATION CLEANER RECEIVES OBE

CATHERINE ANN MITCHELL – RECIPIENT OF MEDALLIST OF ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE

Catherine Ann Mitchell, 67, has worked as a cleaner at Annan Police office for 33 years and has been awarded Medallist of the Order of the British Empire for services to Dumfries & Galloway division, Police Scotland.

She said, “I was astounded when I found out that I was being honoured as I didn’t know people like me where given these type of awards. I’ve been delighted to work with the police service since my early thirties. I love cleaning and I love going to my work as I work with a really lovely bunch of people and it’s a pleasure to be part of Annan Police Office for so many years.

“I’ve seen a lot of activity over the years in the office and I’ve made some wonderful friends. I’ve also watched officers move up the ranks which is lovely to see how people progress in their careers. I’ve really enjoyed my time here and hope to be here for a while longer!”
