In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Dalbeattie and District, the team at Glaisters Christmas Tree Farm Shop are getting ready for the opening of Santas Grotto on the weekends of 2/3 December and 9/10 December.
Santa will be available for visits from 11 am until 3 pm, and all donations collected during this festive initiative will be directed towards supporting the Dalbeattie Food Bank.
A festive contribution comes from James Kingan of New Abbey, who generously provided materials for the construction of Santa’s Grotto.
The collective effort aims to make a positive impact in the community this holiday season.
Glaisters Christmas Tree Farm Shop Offers More Than Ever
In addition to the traditional joy of meeting Santa, this year’s festivities at Glaisters Christmas Tree Farm Shop promise even more. For the first time, the Scottish Christmas Trees site will host on-site catering on the weekends of 2/3 December and 9/10 December, courtesy of Brigston & Co and Cartner Catering. The team envisions visitors enjoying a complete experience by exploring the farm shop, selecting their Christmas tree, engaging in festive activities for children, grabbing a snack, and a warm cuppa.
The Farm Shop Is Now Open 7 Days A Week
The farm shop, open seven days a week starting from 25th November, provides an ideal setting to choose and purchase a real Christmas tree.
The trees are prominently displayed, allowing customers to choose the one that best fits their space. Once selected, the team ensures the tree is securely netted, offering assistance with loading onto vehicles for a seamless journey home.
For those unable to transport their chosen tree, the team offers a delivery service for a small fee to local addresses.
When asked about the motivation behind this initiative, Rory said, “We’ve been asked in the past if we would do a Santa’s Grotto, and we thought we would try and do it in connection with the Rotary Club. We’re looking to raise money for the local food bank, which is a really good cause, so we thought we’d give it a try this year and see how it’s received.”

Rory also emphasized the shop’s commitment to providing a local and sustainable option for Christmas trees, stating, “People are becoming a lot more conscious about where they buy things from and what it is they’re buying, so I think the big thing that we’ve seen is people like to buy things locally.”
Reflecting on the environmental impact of their Christmas tree plantations, Rory mentioned, “It’s interesting actually, the British Christmas Tree Growers Association has just finished doing a survey on the wildlife that is found in plantations, and that’s some really good information on their website about that.”
Scottish Christmas Trees Tops Charts
Proudly, Rory shared the farm’s recent achievement: “We’ve been really fortunate this year that the British Christmas Tree Growers Association holds an annual competition, and the guys, you know, we’ve got six full-time staff here who work really hard all year round to produce these trees, and they’re here 12 months of the year. And it’s a great accolade for them; we won the best Norman for in the UK, which is a real pat on the back, voted for by our peers within the industry, so we’re really proud of that.”
