The New Abbey Playpark Project was set up by local residents with the aim of improving the village’s playpark to encourage and ensure healthy play and wellbeing for generations to come.
The project group were successful in raising and securing funds to pay for the new playground which then went out to tender.
Parc Construction, a local Dumfries based Construction company, were successful in their bid for the design and build contract, and have spent the past two months constructing and delivering the Playpark Project in conjunction with HAGS, the playpark equipment supplier.
The park includes a variety of inclusive playpark equipment, sheltered picnic accommodation for all, and secure fencing and entrances.
Parc Construction said “With a great group of stakeholders, the project could not have gone smoother. Demolition works and site clearance, as well as the installation of new equipment occurred over some of the coldest and wettest weeks of the year, however, the team at Parc carried on and ensured timeframes were met and progress continued. Each week would see checks carried out from behind safety fencing by the most important stakeholders – the village children!”
