Your Business in Crisis – how best to cope with it
A contract has fallen through, Staff are off ill, transport links have been cut off due to weather, the on-line booking and ordering system is down …..
All businesses have experienced a crisis, some relatively minor, others with some serious and longterm impact. How do you cope with it or even prepare for it?
The workshop will consider a range of issues that face organisations as a function of their ‘normal’ activities which, if not dealt with, will generate the conditions of crisis. The workshop will focus on the practical steps that organisations can take to prepare for, and respond to the demands of crisis and delegates will be able to share their concerns and experiences relating to crisis management.
This interactive workshop for local businesses will help delegates address the following questions:
– How prepared is your organisation to cope with the task demands of a crisis that is not of your own making? – How confident are you that your own actions and procedures are not making you vulnerable to a crisis? – What steps can you take to prepare yourself for such events?
The workshop is hosted by Crichton Institute and Encompass team of the University of Glasgow and this partnership has allowed us to invited Professor Denis Fischbacher-Smith, who is the Research Chair in Risk and Resilience and Deputy Head of the Business School and Director of Research, University of Glasgow, to run the workshop for the local businesses.
This is a free workshop but booking is essential. It will take place on Thursday, 15 January 2015, 1730 hrs – 1930 hrs, Rutherford McCowan Building (room R232), Crichton Campus, Dumfries. (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/business-resilience-avoiding-a-crisis-tickets-14604182503 )
