Capability Scotland is delighted to have received a share of £9.2 million in funding from the Scottish Government, through Inspiring Scotland.
The ‘Support in the Right Direction’ (SiRD) fund, aims for organisations to support individuals who are looking to access self-directed support.
Capability Scotland’s Dumfries & Galloway Services share of the funding will allow further development in the charity’s reach in the social care landscape of the region, and assist people in understanding all things SDS, ensuring that they have the confidence to use choice and control when it comes to their care needs. Our team is looking forward to delivering on our new SIRD outcomes.
Rebecca Queen, Service Manager at Capability Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be part of the 24-27 SIRD project and look forward to delivering support with SDS to people throughout the region.
“In Dumfries and Galloway, we now have resources to create an online portal for information at people’s fingertips, improve accessibility to information, and do more beyond just getting a Personal Assistant in to help someone – we can truly help people maximise their SDS budgets.
“We’re also excited to be able to hold drop-in sessions across the region for peer support, with the first session already arranged in Stranraer, in May.”
The funding, provided over three years, will bring much-needed stability in social care within the region, which continues to face a national crisis in staff and provision.
