In Western Premiership 2, Your Move Dumfries returned to the top of the table on Saturday after an eight wicket win over Glasgow Accies at home at Nunholm.
The visitors opted to bat first but two wickets each to Dumfries opening bowlers James Hobman and Alan Davidson, plus a run out, meant they fell to 37 for 5. A fifty by Karan Shah revived the innings and Accies passed the hundred for six wickets down. However Chris Brockwell removed Shah LBW and his three wickets kept the final total down to 114 all out. Dumfries openers Adam Malik and Chris Bellwood provided a good opening partnership of 71 before Bellwood was caught for 20. Malik then repeated his performance of the previous week in taking his side to victory with his score of 72 not out, with twelve boundaries, for the Solway Print Player of the Match award. Dumfries reached the winning target in the 21st over for the loss of two wickets.
In Western Championship 2, the Dumfries 2nd team, Nunholm, remained in top spot with a seven wicket win at Glasgow Accies 2nds. The victory was set up by opening bowler James Cox who took all of the first 6 wickets to fall and the GM Thomson Player of the Match accolade. Vaughn Staples followed up with a further three wickets for the home side to be all out for 81. Nunholm successfully passed that for the loss of three wickets with Munro Cubbon not out at the finish with 17.
The Dumfries Sunday side were all involved in their 26 run loss at Stainton. Five bowlers each took two wickets in the Stainton total of 191 all out, including two each by juniors Cory Dawson and Lachlan Osmond. Then despite 49 from Winston Osmond and runs from Liam Renou (22), Sultan Kamran (29) and 17 by Lachlan the team were all out short of the target.
Also on Sunday, a pre-match downpour at Nunholm resulted in the abandonment of the Rowan Cup T20 Semi-Final against Uddingston. Dumfries then lost the bowl-out to decide the result and the place in the Final. In the Women’s T20 Scottish Cup, East Kilbride won with a single off the last ball chasing a Watsonian/Dumfries total of 124 for 6 with Niamh Muir top scoring with 28.
