Have a wild adventure this summer with RSPB Scotland

  • RSPB Scotland nature reserves have a host of exciting events across the country to help you get closer to nature
  • RSPB Scotland Mersehead will be hosting a nocturnal wildlife walk and a self-led Big Wild Summer Trail
  • Make the summer holidays really wild with fun family days out
  • Something for everyone – explore amazing Scottish nature from birds, bees and butterflies to reptiles and wildflowers

With summer safaris, stunning seabirds and exotic-looking orchids, RSPB Scotland has organised a range of exciting events this summer to help you explore nature – much of it closer to home than you’d think.

Whether travelling from home or on a staycation, you’ll find sites across the country, including Mersehead, showcasing some of Scotland’s best and often rarest species. Many RSPB Scotland nature reserves have events designed to help everyone find their ideal nature adventure; from family days out to trips with friends or just fun activities to enjoy outdoors.

Events include:

  • A nocturnal exploration of Mersehead, with special infra-red cameras and bat detectors.
  • A wander through wildflower meadows on the banks of Loch Lomond.
  • Wildlife photography workshops at Lochwinnoch.
  • An open-air performance of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” at Loch Leven.
  • Hire a replica of the iconic Operation Osprey hide at Loch Garten and look out for these magnificent birds along with other species such as Red Squirrels.
Anna Pugh, Visitor Experience and Marketing Manager, said: “The summer is an excellent time to head out to our nature spaces – the days are longer so there’s time to make the most of all that’s on offer.
“We want everyone to find a nature adventure they love, whether that is looking for lizards, listening out for mysterious nocturnal wildlife or learning more about fantastic wildflowers.  You can find incredible wildlife all across Scotland.
“We love helping people discover how fantastic our nature is, and with everyone’s help, we can protect it and ensure there’s more of it to enjoy for generations to come.”
