Dumfries Under-16s had an impressive win to reach the semi-finals of the U16 Scottish Cup for the first time with an exciting 9-run victory over Glasgow side Clydesdale at Nunholm on Friday. In the T20 match Lachlan Osmond top scored with 44 and Munro Cubbon hit the stumps for each of his four wickets to help seal the spot at the Scottish Finals Day as Dumfries successfully defended their total of 114.
Both Dumfries Saturday sides maintained their league top spots with two further wins. For the Dumfries 1st team that win meant that promotion to Western Premiership 1 was secured through the top two promotion places and with three games left.
In that match, Your Move Dumfries opted to bat first at third placed Irvine and good contributions from the top three, with 62 from the M Devlin Decorating Player of the Match Jono Van Zyl, 23 runs from Chris Bellwood, and then 46 by Chris Brockwell who was out at 180 for 5. That helped get Dumfries to 215 for 8. Alan Davidson boosted that final total with 35 not out from the middle order.
James Hobman then made an early wicket but at around fifty Alan Davidson took two breakthrough wickets for Dumfries to start to work their way through the Irvine batting order. Macey Corbett-Byers then took a crucial wicket and Danny followed up with three wickets and Reiff Colchester with two in two to bowl Lanercost out for 48 for victory.
