FILM FOR THOUGHT AT THE RBCFT DUMFRIES

Film for Thought at RBCFT

In February the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre will welcome the first Film for Thought academic film festival in association with the University of Glasgow’s School of Interdisciplinary Studies.

The festival will run for 5 days, from 24 to 28 February 2015, and offer a diverse programme of thought-provoking films and stimulating discussions with lecturers from the Crichton university campus.

Dr Stuart Hanscomb, university teacher in philosophy and communication, will start the festival on Tuesday 24 February with a screening of the intense and absorbing drama about the early days of psychoanalysis A Dangerous Method and a post-film discussion.

Three more films will follow during the course of the week, exploring themes such as education, philosophy, and child behaviour.

Councillor Colin Smyth, the Council’s Events Champion said, ‘It’s really positive to see cultural partnerships begin to develop and flourish between the University of Glasgow and the local community in Dumfries. The Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre is a much loved venue and the Film for Thought festival provides something a bit different for cinema fans and those who are studying locally.”
