Have you heard about the amazing Stay and Play sessions being offered by Dumfries and Galloway Outdoor and Woodland Learning group (DGOWL)?
Stay and Play sessions have been specifically designed for parents/carers to attend with their children to get involved in outdoor play with their children learning numeracy activities. Parents/carers and their children learn some great, fun outdoor activities that help parents and carers to add a little bit of maths to outdoor play and at the end of the sessions be given a tin with more activities and equipment to enable families to keep doing outdoor maths whilst enjoying being in nature.
Thanks to Multiply Funding supplied by the UK Government, DGOWL has been very busy delivering Stay and Play sessions in nurseries and Primary schools throughout the region. They have been very well received by the teachers, parents/carers and children with one parent commenting “I wish maths was taught like this when I was a kid, I’d have paid more attention”. However, the group is aware that there are home educators and childminders that have infants and young children that are missing out on the opportunity to join one of our sessions.
DGOWL is running a number of Stay and Play events at the end of November specifically for childminders, home educators and toddler groups. For more information about the sessions and how to sign up for one of these free events please visit our DGOWL facebook page or email [email protected].
