One of the largest regeneration proposals for Dumfries and Galloway has heard from more than 1300 people living and working in the area.
Wheatley Homes South and Dumfries and Galloway Council have been working together with the community of Lochside to create a housing-led masterplan which will lead to new, high-quality, affordable homes that meet the needs of local people.
A total of 1304 Wheatley customers, residents and business owners in Lochside have had their say proposals to help shape a masterplan for the area, which will be submitted to Dumfries and Galloway Council for approval in 2025.
Alex Lamb, Managing Director of Wheatley Homes South, said: “It was really important for us the community voice was heard at every stage of this process and their views were able to shape and influence the proposals.
“We are grateful to the support of our partners at Dumfries and Galloway Council for their help in engaging the community. The process has helped inform a vision that reflects the needs and aspirations of the wider Lochside area.
“The final plans will be submitted to the council for approval in spring 2025, marking a significant step toward and an exciting future of Lochside.”
Lochside is one of three community-led regenerations taking place in Wheatley communities in Wheatley Homes South communities, with the others being in Summerhill and in Newington, Annan.
They form part of regeneration and new-build plans by Dumfries and Galloway’s largest social landlord which will see hundreds of new affordable and energy-efficient homes delivered by 2026.
