SCOTTISH CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE HOSTED IN DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY 2025 – 2027

Dumfries and Galloway has a reputation for producing world-class curlers and events, and for the next three years will welcome top curlers from across Scotland to the region to compete in the Men’s and Women’s Scottish Curling Championships at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Dumfries Curling Ltd has been awarded the contract from Scottish Curling to host the Scottish Curling Championships from 2025 to 2027, which given the Olympics will take place in 2026, means there could be great excitement on the ice over the next few years.

The decision by Scottish Curling to award the contract to Dumfries Curling Ltd was the result of a thorough evaluation of several bids from across Scotland.  With state-of-the-art amenities and services and positive feedback from athletes, coaches and spectators from previous events held in Dumfries, Scottish Curling’s Major Events Manager, Charlene Graham said:

“I would like to congratulate Dumfries Curling Ltd for securing the contract to host the Scottish Curling Championships at Dumfries Ice Bowl for the next three seasons. A testament to their state-of-the art facilities and their track record in hosting outstanding events. They consistently demonstrate excellence in hosting large scale sporting events and create an exceptional athlete and spectator experience. They also work hard to engage young people in the sport and to grow an online audience through the live broadcasting of games too. I would personally like to thank Dumfries Curling for their ongoing commitment and to everyone involved in preparing for the Scottish Championships. It is always a highlight in the Scottish Curling calendar, so I am looking forward to it!”

Graham Sloan, Manager at Dumfries Curling said:

“We are excited to be hosting the Scottish Curling Championships at Dumfries Ice Bowl and showcase the Ice Bowl’s ability to stage high profile events. The local organising committee are working hard to prepare the perfect platform for local teams, and for athletes from across Scotland, to compete in the championships. There is a lot at stake this year, with the top teams hoping to put themselves in a strong position for selection for the 2026 Olympics.   We are delighted to be bringing this level of competition and athletes to Dumfries and hope that the local community will come together to welcome visitors to the region, to celebrate and support curling in Scotland and to inspire new curlers to get involved through our Try Curling programmes.”

The draw has recently taken place, so momentum is now building for the first of the three events, which will take place at Dumfries Ice Bowl from the 2nd – 8th February 2025. Among the competitors are some of the top-ranking world teams from Dumfries and Galloway and across Scotland, so it’s set to be an exciting week of world-class curling at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

Gordon McKnight, Assistant Manager at Dumfries Curling added:

“There are various sponsorship and digital advertising opportunities associated with the Scottish Curling Championships in 2025 – 2027, so for anyone who would like to support the event or get their brand in front of the athletes and spectators, please feel free to contact us at Dumfries Curling or to download our Sponsorship Pack online. Opportunities include everything from logos on the ice, display boards around the arena and digital advertising to Principal Sponsor and much more.”
