Men arrested for trailer thefts in Lockerbie and Cumbernauld

Three men have been arrested following an investigation into several thefts of commercial vehicles and trailers in the Lockerbie and Cumbernauld areas. 

The offences were committed between April and July last year. On 15 April, 2024, a HGV Tractor unit was stolen from Cumbernauld. A trailer was stolen from Lockerbie between 6 and 7 July, 2024. A further theft took place in Lockerbie on 24 July where a trailer was stolen.

On Saturday, 11 January, 2025, officers travelled to Leeds and arrested and charged three men, aged 25, 40 and 48, in connection with the thefts. They were later released and will appear in court at a later date. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said: “This investigation highlights our commitment to tackling crime across the region and shows that anyone thinking of travelling to Scotland to commit crime will be actively pursued.”
