A Dumfries and Galloway College (DGC) student, Orrin Carson and her Team mate Robyn Munro from Stranraer are celebrating the remarkable achievement of securing a historic gold medal the in mixed doubles curling at the recent World University Games in Turin, Italy.
Alongside team-mate Robyn Munro from Stranraer, the pair’s victory marked the first-ever gold medal for Great Britain in mixed doubles curling at the World University Games as they saw off strong competition throughout the tournament, then showed resilience and composure in a closely fought final against Germany, which they won 10-8.
As an HND Coaching and Developing Sport student at Dumfries and Galloway College, Orrin has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence both academically and athletically.
The 19-year-old, from Dumfries, has enjoyed a momentous start to 2025, leading his all-teenage team to their first title on the men’s tour just a week earlier at The Mercure Perth Masters.
Orrin Carson said: “I picked up great momentum in Perth and carried that into this week and I couldn’t be happier. We’ll definitely enjoy it over the next few days and we’ll soak up the experience of the World University Games.”
