It was an unforgettable weekend at the Scottish Gymnastics Championships, where the nation’s top gymnasts gathered at Ravenscraig Sports Facility in Motherwell to compete at the highest level. Among them was 15-year-old Eilidh from Dumfries, stepping up as a first-year senior—and she absolutely rose to the occasion.
Competing against Scotland’s best, Eilidh showcased remarkable composure and skill across all four apparatus. One of her key goals for the competition was to perform two different vaults, and she did just that—executing a stunning piked Tsukahara and a tucked Yurchenko. Both vaults landed beautifully, earning her an impressive average score of 11.667 and securing a joint 6th place finish in the rankings. With the competition fierce, the wait for the final standings was tense, but Eilidh’s outstanding performance earned her a well-deserved spot in the vault finals.
Sunday brought even more success as Eilidh stepped up once again, delivering two stunning vaults in the final. Her hard work and dedication were on full display, and the experience gained from this high-level competition will undoubtedly help her continue to progress in her senior career. She has made herself, her club, and her supporters immensely proud.
Eilidh’s achievements are even more remarkable considering she balances 18 hours of training each week with her studies. Her commitment to both her gymnastics and education is a testament to her dedication and strong work ethic.
A huge thank you goes out to her incredible support team—Louise, Bill, and Katie—as well as Caroline, Sommer, Kari, Scarlett, and Marcie, who made the journey to cheer her on. Their encouragement made this milestone moment even more special.
Head Coach Steven expressed his admiration for Eilidh’s dedication and performance, saying:
“This was an amazing opportunity for Eilidh to showcase all her skills. I was extremely proud of Eilidh as she works extremely hard in the gym, and with her talent, determination, and unwavering passion for the sport, it shows that you get what you work for. With Eilidh set to compete at grades in a couple of weeks, we look forward to this competition. The future looks bright, and we can’t wait to see what she can achieve next.”
