South Ayrshire Council is delighted to confirm that the line-up for the International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight 2025 will include all RAF assets.
Top of the bill are the amazing Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows, who will take to the skies above Ayr’s shorefront to perform a breath-taking aerobatic display!
The team will return with their signature Diamond Nine formation and breathtaking synchro pair opposition passes.
Aviation fans will be excited to learn that there will be two opportunities to see The Red Arrows at Ayr’s Low Green this year. The wildly popular team are set to display on both Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September.
Following the theme of “The Royal Air Force in Scotland”, an exhilarating line-up of RAF aircraft are booked to display this September. Joining the Reds on both days of the festival will be the ever-popular Typhoon; Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF); the RAF Falcons Parachute display team; and the RAF Grob Tutor.
The Typhoon kept crowds enthralled during its 2023 and 2024 appearances and is sure to be another highlight of the festival line-up this year.
The display from BBMF was another crowd favourite, and this year they will return with their fleet of World War Two aircraft preserved in flying condition – including the Hurricane and the magnificent Lancaster.
Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to see the RAF Falcons Parachute display team’s exciting free fall display, which was hugely popular in 2024.
The Grob Tutor elementary training aircraft is also confirmed – which is an exciting new addition to the bill for 2025!
CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon, said: “When we applied for military support for the airshow in September 2024 we wanted to have the Red Arrows for both days. We are absolutely delighted that they have chosen to support us fully, especially as we had exceptionally strong competition internationally this year. It clearly shows how important our airshow has become in the display calendar and how much Scotland means to the Royal Air Force”.
South Ayrshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: “It’s very exciting to be able to confirm that the Red Arrows will headline the International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight. It’s also an honour to welcome the beautifully preserved aircraft of the BBMF to the skies over Ayr, and I’m sure aviation enthusiasts will be delighted to see the lineup of new and returning aircraft at the festival this year.”
South Ayrshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: “It’s excellent news that we’ve been able to secure all RAF assets for the 2025 airshow. The flight schedule is shaping up to be really special, and seeing the Red Arrows flying their Hawk T1 aircraft in formation will undoubtedly be a highlight for both locals and visitors.”
Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Martin Dowey, said: “It’s the announcement we’ve all been waiting for! I’m sure visitors will be delighted to see the Red Arrows top the bill. There’s a lot to look forward to at the airshow this September, and these spectacular aircraft are sure to draw crowds to Ayr’s Low Green.”
