Seventeen adult learners who have taken part in courses provided by Dumfries and Galloway Council recently had the opportunity to meet cross party Scottish political representatives and key decision makers.
Together with other learners from across the country the Dumfries delegates attended the Shoot for the Stars Learners’ Voices Conference held at the University of Edinburgh on 16 March. The conference allowed local learners to meet, discuss and put forward their views on the future of funding for adult learning and family learning in Scotland whilst engaging in a lively debate with MSP’s on the impending priorities for these subjects.
The day was organised to by the Scotland’s Learning Partnership with the aim of gauging learners’ experiences, insights and opinions.
Councillor Tom McAughtrie, Chair of the Community and Customer Services Committee said;
“This was welcome opportunity for local learners to put forward their views and to participate with other adult learners at an important national event.”
