Man Cut Out Of Car In Dalbeattie Collision

Collision between a car and a van in Dalbeattie sees one man taken to hospital.

Firefighters rescued a man from a car after it collided with a van in Dalbeattie this morning (Monday 8 June).

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) appliances from Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas and Dumfries were sent to the town’s Port Road in response to a 999 call made shortly after 11am.

Crew Manager Norman Neilson, the incident commander, said: “Firefighters immediately stabilised the vehicle and prepared to extricate the casualty.

“We used hydraulic rescue equipment to create the space needed to safely remove him from the side of the car.

“An ambulance took him to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and paramedics also provided the driver of the van with a precautionary check-up at the scene.”

The incident was passed to Police Scotland following completion of the rescue and all SFRS crews had left the scene by 11:30am.
