POLICE STOP ‘FOWL PLAY’ AND SAY NO TO SWANNING AROUND ON TONGLAND ROAD

Swan rescued – Tongland

Police Scotland officers rescued a swan from the roadway at Tongland, Kirkcudbright in the early hours of Friday 5 June 2015.

Constables Lisa Ritchie and Ryan Campbell caught the sawn and removed it from the danger of being struck by a vehicle on the road. The swan was taken to Castle Douglas Police Office and the SSPCA were contacted. The SSPCA uplifted the swan, and were later able to return it to the water and reunite it with its cygnets. Constable Ryan Campbell said “it looks like the swan had flown off from the cygnets to get food and thereafter became disorientated. It was a bit daunting to try and capture the swan however it didn’t seem to mind the ride in the police car.”
