Dalbeattie Folktober Festival returns on the 2-4th Oct, following a successful trial event last year which attracted singers and musicians from throughout Scotland and the UK.
This year sees more events being organised, with highlights including the hi-energy celtic sounds of up and coming local band Novantae on Friday night and a Saturday night concert featuring Scottish folk legends Bruce and Walker. Free informal sessions will also run throughout the weekend and are open to singers, musicians or anyone who simply just wants to come along and listen.
Festival co-organiser Adrian Pringle says; ‘we are really looking forward to this year’s festival and are expecting the events to be well supported. The blend of local and visiting acts offer a wide range of traditional and contemporary acoustic music and we are really pleased to be able to host an event like this in our town. The concerts should be great, so why not come along – or just drop in to the sessions at the Kings Arms and Ship Inn over the weekend – we promise a relaxed and friendly atmosphere’.
