STEWARTRY 26 pts CLYDEBANK 13pts
Stewartry secured a bonus point victory with two tries in the last five minutes against a Bankies side that pushed them all the way.
Stewartry kicked off into the wind and had to look lively as Clydebank put the ball back deep into the Stewartry 22.
The first lineout went the Bankies way with two very tall lads out jumping Stewartry something that continued throughout the game. Clydebank continued to press into the Stewartry 22 but on seven minutes against the run of play John Muir broke from the halfway line to outpace the Bankies defence and score at the posts. Craig Mosey added the conversion. Clydebank hit back before the scoreboard was changed with a penalty award on the edge of the Blacks 22. Stewartry scrum had the advantage in the first quarter but started to creak before halftime. Andrew Kerr and Kyle Amos were both stopped short of the try line the Blacks best scoring chances before half time .7-3 to Stewartry.
Stewartry now with the wind behind them were shocked minutes into the second half the Clydebank right winger crashing over for a try in the corner to put the Bankies one point ahead. Stewartry did make ground into the Bankies half but too much good possession was kicked away in mid field missing too many touches. A heavy rain shower midway through produced a series of knock-ons before on the hour John Fingland scored the Blacks second try at the posts. Craig Mosey converted. Not to be out done the Bankies scored a second try out on the right four minutes later closing the gap to one point. With five minutes left and Stewartry turning the screw Porteous won a line out five metres out and the ball was passed to winger Scott Carson who came in to score at the posts. Craig Mosey made his hat trick of conversions. In the last minute another lineout on the five metre line ended in a ruck giving Rory Porteous the chance to jump over the ruck and steal the loose ball for a fourth and bonus point try. Full time 26-13. This was Stewartrys fourth home win from four keeping them in second place in the BT West Division Two.
This weekend with the World Cup Final kicking off at 4.00pm New Zealand v Australia Stewartry will kick off at 12.30pm at home to Waysiders Drumpellier.
