Women were in the spotlight as more than 200 business leaders gathered in Holyrood for this year’s Business in the Parliament Conference.
SNP member Joan McAlpine took Jacquie Brown, founder of BreakFree Coaching and Jacquie’s Beauty in Dumfries, as her special guest.
Ms McAlpine, who sits on the economy committee, chaired a workshop on women’s entrepreneurship and said that Jacquie was a prefect example of the “entrepreneurial spirit.”
Commenting, the South Scotland MSP said:
“It was fantastic to see so many women represented at this year’s event.
“It was my pleasure to take Jacquie as my guest – she is a fantastic role model for other female entrepreneurs looking to start up their own businesses.”
Guests were treated to keynote speeches from FanDuel co-founder Lesley Eccles and ERIBÉ Knitwear founder Rosemary Eribé at the two day event, focussing on the theme of ‘opportunities for growth – Scottish business priorities for 2020’.
Ms McAlpine said:
