STORE CATTLE AND OTM CATTLE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their fortnightly sale of 95 OTM and Store Cattle on Monday 23rd November 2015.
A small show of store cattle sold very easily maintaining recent rates. Topping the sale at £1080 was a Simmental heifer from The Firm of A M Brown, Drumhumphry, Corsock. A Simmental bull from Graplin Farm topped the males at £885 whilst Limousin x bullock calves from H & N Armstrong, Farhills topped the section at 218p per kg. Limousin heifers from the same home sold to 210.1p per kg. Overall averages saw the bullocks level at 198p per kg whilst the heifers were 190p per kg.
The OTM sale comprised of a larger percentage of small Galloway and Blue Grey hill type cattle but despite this all classes were dearer than the previous sale. Topping the sale £1165.12 or 176p per kg was an overage heifer from J J & I Baird, Potterland. Cast cows sold to £1010.52 for a Simmental from Trolane and to 136p for a Limousin from Upper Hardland. Cast bulls sold to £719.44 or 92p per kg for a Simmental from Cannee. Overall average was 99p per kg.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Could we please ask that Vendors get sheep to the Market as early as possible on a Tuesday morning. Clipping is from 8.00am onwards and we would like if sheep were available for them to start at that time.
Wallets Marts castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 2682 Prime lambs and cast sheep on Tuesday 24th November 2015.
2029 prime lambs sold to average 156.6 (SQQ 161.22). All classes of lambs sharper on the week with a much larger show of sheep forward.
Lambs today sold to a top of £80 from Messrs Fisher, Flathill, Dundrennan closely followed at £78 x 3 firstly for a pen of Suffolks from Messrs Gallacher, Knockenhair, Sanquhar then for a pen of Texels from Messrs Kerr, Fagra, Dundrennan then for a pen of 16 Texels scaling 42.5kg from Douganhill Farms which were top price per kg at 183.5ppk.
653 cast sheep sold very similar again to £91 for a Texel Ram from Arvie, Corsock. Ewes to £77 for Texels from Farhills and Blackface to £54 from Meikle Carton.
