WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
This years show was ably judges by Mr Will Tinning of Dunbia (Wales) Ltd, he had 30 pens of sheep in front of him to judge and made a swift and professional job and was in no doubt as to which lambs were overall champions as soon as he handled them. This being the first Prize Blackface lambs. Three outstanding lambs scaling 45.7 kgs that were full of meat and handled tremendous. The judge backed his decision in buying the lambs at £145. Reserve was the 1st prize A.O.B lambs a pen of Beltex x lambs from Gelston Castle Farms scaling 43.8 kgs and selling at £105 to Mr J MacTaggart on behalf of Vivers Scotlamb.

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 3267 prime lambs, store lambs and cast sheep on Tuesday 8th December 2015.
2616 prime lambs sold to average 155.71 (SQQ 157.48). All classes of lambs were cheaper on the week except light weights.
Lambs outwith the show lambs today sold to a top of £79 from Low Creoch, Gatehouse, top price per kg outwith the show lambs 189.47 for a pen of Beltex from Compstonend, Twynholm.
501 cast sheep sold to a similar trade except over fat ewes which were hard to cash, a top today for £115 for Texel ram from Mull of Galloway, ewes to £86 for Texels from Byrecroft, Blackface ewes to £54 from Castlegower.

75 OTM cows forward selling cheaper on the fortnight in keeping with national trend, top price per head was £839.59 for a limousin from Upper Hardland which was also 120 ppkg.
