Following the announcement that a contractor has been appointed to start work on the £1.1million scheme to transform Central Avenue, Gretna, an information event has now been scheduled for 6th January 2016.
PI Solutions will commence work on the scheme in January 2016, but the public will have the opportunity to come along to the event any time between 3.00pm to 7.00pm at the Richard Greenhow Centre, Central Avenue, Gretna.
Businesses and residents from the area are invited to come and view the plans, programme of work and discuss the project with the Contractor, Project Manager and the Council.
This is an exciting project which will make the centre of Gretna more attractive and pleasant for businesses, residents, and visitors alike. The new scheme will include tree planting and landscaping which will combine hedge planting, grass and the enhancement of community spaces.
Councillor Craig Peacock, Vice Chair of the Economy, Environment and Infrastructure Committee said: “I would like to invite the local public and business owners to come along to the event to see for themselves the insightful plans for the new development. This is an exciting time for the future of Gretna. Not only will this scheme make the town a more attractive place to live, but I also believe that through this investment in the infrastructure the local economy will prosper and businesses in the vicinity will benefit from additional visitors pausing a little longer to enjoy the new area.”
“I understand that this proposal does not solve All this issues we have in Gretna and the public will comment on this but I feel that every pound the council spends in Gretna is a pound well spent, and I will continue to lobby the council to provide the best service they can to the Gretna residents with the budgets we have to work with. I hope people take an active interest in what is a sizeable spend within the township and don’t just dismiss the project without understanding the fullness of the programmed works”
