Could we please ask that Vendors get sheep to the Market as early as possible on a Tuesday morning. Clipping is from 8.00am onwards and we would like if sheep were available for them to start at that time
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 1222 Prime hoggs and cast sheep on Tuesday 22nd March 2016.
795 Prime hoggs sold to average 175p per kg. SQQ 179.36. All classes sold less on the week. Top today was £100.50 for Beltex from Messrs Birrell, Barnboard, Balmaghie. Top per kilo was 205.2p for Beltex from the same home.
Cast sheep were a plainer show but still sold at similar rates. Top was £132 for Beltex rams from Barnboard. Ewes to £112 for Beltex from the same home with Blackface ewes selling to £66.50 from Mitchellslacks, Thornhill.
