Local Karting Ace ‘Kieran Conchie’ a 9 Year old Heathhall primary pupil was in action at Cumbria Kart Club in Rowrah at the weekend for their club championship round 3 which doubled up as the first Round of the National Clubman championship the NKF(northern karting federation).
After 2 days testing in both wet and dry conditions the Dumfries and Galloway lad was ready for action. In a grid of 28 karts all very closely matched Kieran was consistently setting fastest sectors and laps during the 3 qualifying heats pulling off some impressive overtaking moves to score a excellent haul of points which would see him 3rd on the grid for the final. After a great start the 9 year old Heathhall school boy jumped to second with the lead changing hands several times with Kieran finishing a tidy 2nd and the first NKF competitor across the line.
Kieran told DGWGO sports news “It was great to see a record turnout for my 1st year in the NKF and to finish the final in such a strong position made me extremely proud especially as I was sporting my new Scottish themed livery.”
Kieran would like to thanks Andy from Clan racing who travelled from Dunoon to support and his sponsors Building Craftsmen, Grierson & Graham, Hire and Supplies, Dumfries Body Repair Centre and GeeGee Entertainments.
