Three authors and three poets, all from south west Scotland, will come together for a day of reading, writing, listening and discussion in Dumfries this month as part of World Book Night.
Authors Miller Caldwell, Sara Bain and Michael J Malone will join poets Stuart A Patterson, Rab Wilson and Hugh McMillan at a free event at Lochthorn Library, Locharbriggs, supported by the Society of Authors and Dumfries and Galloway Council.
This event will include a light lunch and a chance for anyone interested in books to network and discuss them in an entertaining and informal way.
Anne Rinaldi, library development officer said: “We are delighted that the Society of Authors are bringing such an exciting collection of authors and poets to Lochthorn Library.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for our readers and anyone new to the library to listen, discuss and enjoy a range of works for free as well as have time for an informal chat over lunch.”
Miller Caldwell, the Society of Authors’ events manager, says he is delighted to have gathered together six of the South West’s best poets and authors in a day of readings and recitals, with questions and answers about the authors’ work and the world of their writing experiences.
He said: “This is an opportunity to learn about Sara Bain’s Kindle chart-topping novel; Michael J Malone’s much awaited new work; and one author whose latest book is about to be made into a film.
“With award-winning poets Stuart A Patterson, Rab Wilson and Hugh McMillan, the variety of writing all under one roof will amaze, entertain and be a credit to the writers of south west Scotland.
“We hope everyone will come and join us for a unique event in the writing calendar of Dumfries and Galloway.”
The event will be held between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, 23 April.
