St Andrews, Dumfries Nursery Receives Grading of Excellence

St Andrew’s Nursery in Brooke Street, soon to be celebrating 30 years of providing care and learning for children from 2yr 9 months until 5, is toasting their success in achieving Excellence for the second time in their recent inspection by the Care Inspectorate.

Manager Fiona Douglas and her team are overjoyed at their hard work and continued progression being recognised, with the grades of 6 (excellent) being awarded for Quality of Care & Support and Quality of Environment and grades of 5 (very good) awarded for Staffing and Management & Leadership.

Mrs. Douglas commented “Over the past year we have created a wonderful new garden area which allows us to access a whole range of activities, with the children getting the added benefit of fresh air.  We have also developed a number of workshops for parents and children to strengthen curriculum awareness, and have enhanced further our transition links with a number of schools.”

Mrs. McCaughey, Chairperson of St. Andrew’s Brooke Street commented “It is a wonderful achievement for the staff team at nursery, to be recognised for their “high standard of learning experiences”. We are the only nursery in the region at present to have acquired 2 grades of Excellence.”

We currently have a few spaces within nursery and anyone wishing to have a look around our establishment would be made most welcome, please contact Mrs. Douglas on 07817636212. You can view our report at www.careinspectorate.com and type in our Care Inspectorate number CS2011281350.
