Stranraer Dementia Resource Centre has been announced as a finalist in the 2016 Jewson Building Better Communities competition. After beating over 1,800 nominated projects as part of a national competition, it’s made it to this stage, and now it needs your help to secure a share of the £100,000 regional prize fund.
Alzheimer Scotland is calling on members of the local community to get behind the Stranraer Dementia Resource Centre and cast their vote on the Jewson Facebook page.
If successful, Stranraer Dementia Resource Centre will be awarded a regional prize for building materials from Jewson, to help create a Dementia Café within the resource centre making it a warm, inviting and efficient space for the whole community to enjoy.
Nina Parkin representative of the Stranraer Dementia Resource Centre said: “Getting shortlisted out of 1,800 projects is such a great achievement and really highlights the fantastic work we do. By winning the Building Better Communities competition, we’ll be able to have a fully functional quality Dementia friendly centre which is highly valued and regarded as an asset to the local community.

People have until 19th June to vote for their local project. Votes can be cast via the Jewson Facebook page at www.facebook.com/jewsonuk

Now people have the opportunity to vote online via Facebook for their favorite causes, and make a difference to local communities.”
