‘Black Galloway’ Wins National Award for Local Brewery

It’s been a day for raising a glass at Sulwath brewery in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway after they received news of winning their latest award. The brewery team  attended this year’s Scottish Real Ale Festival which was held in Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange on Thursday 7th July for the Champion Beer of Britain heats.

The team from sulwath are delighted to announce that their ‘Black Galloway’ has won the prestigious title of CAMRA Champion Porter of Scotland 2016. This is a robust porter/stout which derives its colour from the abundance of “Maris Otter” barley and chocolate malts used in the brewing process 4.4% ABV. “The ultimate Knife & fork job”.

Allen Henderson Managing Director Sulwath Brewers Ltd Told DGWGO Food and drink News “Everyone at Sulwath Brewers, works tirelessly to ensure we are able to produce the very best that we can & would love to take this award to the finals of Champion Beer of Britain. “CAMRA Champion Porter of Scotland 2016” We were honoured to receive our award certificate this week, which was presented by Alan Gass & Keith Bruce from Dumfries & Stewartry – Sub branch of Solway Camra.”
