The Lights Go Down On ‘Wickerman Festival’ Forever

The South of Scotlands biggest Music festival for over 15 years ‘ The Wicker Man Festival’ has officially announced today that it will not make a return. Although the 2015 festival went ahead under the management of Jamies daughter ‘Jennie’ who lives in Tanzania with her family, this year the Dumfries and Galloway based Wickerman Festival held at East Kirkcarswell Farm near Dundrennan took a year out to recover after festival founder ‘Jamie Gilory’ sadly passed away in 2014 .

The Festival has brought many world class acts to the region and over the years since first opening it’s gates there have been thousands of revelers party the hours away in the fields at the Gilroy family farm. Many local people and visitors to the region will have many happy memories of the events over the years, and in an announcement today on facebook, the Gilroy family hope you will share those memories with them.

On The Festivals facebook page which has over 25,000 followers they stated today ” After much thought and consideration Patsy Gilroy and Jennie Camm have decided that the Wickerman Festival will not be continuing. Since it’s creation by Jamie Gilroy, Founding Director, the festival has provided us all with an eclectic mix of memories. It’s these that we wish people to look back on and remember. Thank you all for your loyal support over the years and please feel free to post your favourite moments for all of us to enjoy.”
