The well-loved Feral Choir is holding three atmospheric concerts in December with something a little different from traditional carols and the nativity story.
Led by award-winning songwriter Alison Burns, Midwinter Turning looks back at the events of the last twelve months that none of us could have imagined back in January:
“All across the world it’s been a difficult year in so many ways, “ says Alison. “I wanted to gather some of the most resonant pieces of writing and share these with our audiences. As human beings, there are more things that make us the same than set us apart and Midwinter Turning is a response to the immense changes we’ve seen this year.”
The concerts will weave together songs from the choir with favourite poems, old and new, including work from Hugh McMillan, Alan McClure and Donald Adamson, who all have a connection to Dumfries & Galloway. Listen out, too, for Garrison Keillor and his News from Lake Wobegon.
“Midwinter Turning is a time to take stock of the past and look to the future,” adds Alison, “We’d love to see friends old and new to celebrate the turning of the year and look forward to 2017.”
