Scottish-German Choir To Give Free Concert

An 80-strong choir comprising young people from Dumfries and Galloway and German twin town Gifhorn will give a free concert in St John’s Church in Dumfries on Sunday 18 December 2016 at 6pm (1800).

Dumfries and Galloway Regional Youth Choir, now in its 16th season, encourages young people to get involved in choral music.

As part of their longstanding twinning relationship, members will welcome 40 young people from the Gifhorn Twin-Town Singers to Scotland and participate in a residential choral workshop in Stirling.

The Choirs are working together on a variety of Christmas music over a 4 day period before heading to Dumfries for the concert.

As well as working hard on their music, the young people will participate together in a range of activities including quizzes, a ceilidh, and visits to a range of tourist attractions.

Jamie Brand of Annan Academy said: “This twinning relationship was first established in 2009. Since then, it has flourished with many long-term friendships made. Music is the common language that units us. We really hope that a large audience comes along to St John’s on Sunday to enjoy what will be a fabulous choral experience.”
