A POPULAR Local Facebook group that was set up  by ‘Jade White’ and focuses on everything wonderful about our region Called  Dumfries & Galloway Through a Lens, recently celebrated it’s first anniversary by raising £450 for D&G Blood Bikes by creating a photograph booklet containing 50 images of local scenery.

One of the images chosen for the booklet

The Group which now has over 680 members, share photos of our beautiful region, places to visit, walks and also hold social events when they have group walks with their cameras.

Jade told DGWGO “I wanted to celebrate a year of my facebook group page Dumfries & Galloway through a Lens, so I decided to create a photo booklet containing some of the images we have shared over the last year. I spoke to my amazing group members and we chose D & G Bloodbikes as our local charity of choice.

Our members and their family and friends bought a total of 74 booklets, which was fabulous – that gave us a donation of £370.00  pounds, for every booklet we sold raised £5.00 for D & G BloodBikes.”

Jade went on to say “I arranged with Dave Hook to handover the money on our anniversary date  the 12th March. We did the honours at the Holiday Inn, Dumfries, who I would like to thank the for giving us the function room free of charge, so very generous and  superb community spirit.

There was a fabulous turnout of group members old and new and  plus the team from D & G Bloodbikes.  The final total handed over was £450.00. I had received messages from members and extra donations during that morning, from David Baird, Sheila Stubbs, Stewart Sievwright and Matthew White.”

She Continued “Myself and admin,  Pauline McCreadie, Sheila Stubbs and Mike Howes would like to thank everyone within the group for their efforts, allowing us to utilise their stunning images, so I could design the booklet – It made me proud that so many like minded people wanted to come together for our region and give back to our community.

Also huge thanks must go to the  80 volunteers that work tirelessly to deliver patients notes, samples, medical equipment and blood, saving the NHS money.  Dave Hook from D&G Blood bikes  gave  a very touching speech on how our donation would service three motorbikes.  They need to raise £35,000 per year to function, they truly are our regions hero’s so to giving a little to them can really make a difference.”
