Nithcree Training in Dumfries have some exciting news for licence acquisitions for all age groups. Before now they could only offer funding for 17-24 year olds, however after extreme pressure they have manged to secure funding for 25 year olds and over.
Michelle McCluskey from Nithcree told DGWGO ” The funding we have is via a Modern Apprenticeship Scheme, therefore there is also an associated SVQ such as Driving Goods Vehicles or Warehousing and Storage. At least 2 SVQ visits which are scheduled approx. 8 weeks apart must be completed before any training is provided as this is what draws in the funding.
The SVQ is assessment based, where an assessor will come out to the workplace to assess the trainee’s competence and knowledge in various units of the SVQ; this could include health and safety in the workplace, driving a company vehicle, loading a company vehicle, customer service for example.
