Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited sold 25 OTM Cattle, 205 Store Cattle and 108 Breeding Cattle at their fortnightly sale on Monday 8th May 2017.
OTM Cattle met their dearest trade of the season merely as a result of new buyers and a shortage of cattle for the demand. Bulls topped at 116 per kg for a White Shorthorn from Ardwall Farms selling to the same buyer. Overall average levelled at 137.19p or £812.19 per head included in which were a number of hill bred beef cows.
Store cattle were also once again in good demand and sold to a wide range of buyers. Topping the trade at £1320 was a pen of Limousin bullocks from J Fisher & Son, Flathill, Dundrennan, whilst a pen of Aberdeen Angus heifers from T Robb, Trolane topped their section at £1245.
