Fast bowler Danny Armstrong six-wicket haul helps Nunholm to first victory of the season. St Ninians from Prestwick won the toss and put Nunholm into bat on a green wicket down at Dumfries Sports Club.

The opening pair of Jeremy Goodin and Adam Malik were watchful in the early overs ensuring they saw off dangerous opening bowling of Phil Stafford. Jeremy Goodin fell to an excellent catch in the slips. As St Ninians changed their bowlers, Nunholm began to be more expansive with their shots.
The scoreboard began to rattle along, but so did the wickets, with Adam Malik caught behind and James Cox and Andrew Dawson falling to direct run outs. David Davidson (43) used his years of experience to hit the bad balls and kept Nunholm on target for 200.
Another mini collaspse bought Daniel Armstrong and Mark Abnett to the crease. They both produced a solid lower order performance, some big hits to the boundary across the lush outfield saw St Ninians lose the control they had earlier on. Nunholm finished on 199 for 8 wickets.
The second innings saw Daniel Armstrong handed the new match ball sponsored by Barbour & Son, the first delivery showed that there was huge late movement taking place. Daniel Armstrong dismissed bother right handed openers with late in-swinging deliveries which shattered the bails.
Armstrong was now at full pace and yet again got his third wicket as the batsman tried to cover up for the swing, but it found its way through and the stumps were smashed over again. St Ninian’s batsmen were at a loss of how to play against Daniel Armstrong’s swing and batsmen were visibly nervous as they came to crease.
Daniel was not finished yet, and yet again another players wickets were knocked over and Armstrong’s first spell came to an end with 4 wickets, and some wood glue required for the new bails! Robbie Huxtable came on and as with last week, picked up a wicket, which put St Ninians in a tricky sport 53 runs on the board and 5 wickets down.
There was a momentary lul in play as Kennedy ground out a slow, but defiant 50, however he eventually fell to Callum Reynolds-Lewis when he chipped up to the safe hands of Robert Huxtable. Callum Reynolds-Lewis, clean bowled another player, before being replaced by Daniel Armstrong who came back on to clean up the tail and take a further two wickets, clean bowling both.
Daniel Armstrong was Man of the Match for his six wickets, 1 catch and 24 runs. Nunholm are away next week as they visit Titwood in Glasgow.
