The crew of Nith Inshore Rescue will hold their annual fund raising open day at the Caerlaverock Boat House on Saturday 27 May 2017 from 14:00 to 18:00.
During this event they will also hold the official opening ceremony of theirextended and refurbished boathouse.
A Spokesperson for the Crew Said “This ceremony will take place at 15:30 when our grant funders will take part in a tape cutting ceremony after which visitors will be welcome to see around the lifeboat station. Partner agencies including HM Coastguard, Police, Fire & Rescue will be present at the ceremony.
The extension and addition of more work space, a crew / equipment room and an operations / training room is a huge milestone and great development in the evolution of this vital local rescue service. This allows an improved space for training and keeping skills up-to-date as well as a new operations room for command and control of call-outs and training exercises.
As well as the lifeboat “St John” and various rescue equipment on display the event will be attended by the Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists, HM Coastguard, Scottish Fire & Rescue, Police, Moffat Mountain Rescue, Scottish Ambulance Service, Blood Bikes and much more. There will be entertainment from Dumfries Community Choir. “
A barbecue, refreshments and bouncy castle will also be available.
The public are welcome to attend the event and take part on the open day and allow Nith Rescue to share in thanking all who have kindly donated to our service.
