Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership has been awarded £2.73 million in Stage 2 funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Following the completion of Stage 1, the Galloway Glens Partnership now looks to continue with their projects over the next five years.
The Partnership connects people living and working in the area with its heritage and landscape in a drive to secure a prosperous future for the communities around the Water of Ken and River Dee, right from their source to the sea.
In November 2015, the Partnership was successful in receiving stage one approval from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Commenting, Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson said:
“I am delighted to hear that the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership has received such a tremendous grant.
“The work of the Partnership is important to the development of our heritage in Dumfries and Galloway.
“The funding will provide an important boost to the local economy in Dumfries and Galloway, whilst connecting local people to the unique and stunning heritage around the area.
“Today’s funding announcement will complement an already beautiful part of Scotland, which can claim to have the UK’s first Dark Sky Park, and Scotland’s first Biosphere.
“I look forward to seeing the implementation of Stage 2 from 2018 and will continue to support the work of Galloway Glens both in the constituency and at the Scottish Parliament.”
