It’s an exciting time in the world of smartphones with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Apple set to unveil their latest iPhone models. So, we’ve decided to take a look at the best of the best from 2018, the most popular, our favourites and what’s still to come this year.
Apple iPhone X
The iPhone X is, arguably, the best smartphone currently available on the market and the best phone Apple has ever made. The edge to edge OLED screen, the remodelled shape and the brilliant dual camera married with the super quick A11 Bionic processor and many other features make this an all-round brilliant phone.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
Tech radar called the Galaxy Note 9 one of the best phones they’ve ever tested, and if 8020’s first impressions are anything to go by, this phone is mightily impressive. It’s the first phone to offer 1TB of storage. Add to that an AMOLED screen and major camera and battery improvements. The Galaxy Note 9 is now the leading Android phone on the market by all accounts.
Apple iPhone 8
Apple’s 2017 keynote gave us our first glimpse of the iPhone 8. With similar features and power to the X, the 8 is ideal if you’re looking to stick with Apple and looking for an alternative to the X.
Samsung Galaxy S9
The Galaxy is a slick, well-built smartphone line and we’re big fans at 8020 with a number of us currently using a Galaxy device. Amazing camera and top specs. The S7 Edge and S8 are great phones too.
Google Pixel 2 XL
The Google Pixel 2 XL is all about the camera. If you’re looking for a change and camera and picture quality is important to you, this might be the phone for you. This Android phone has the best camera on the market and takes spectacular photos.
Huawei P20 Pro,
Huawei is a brand you might not be familiar with but that shouldn’t put you off what is a top smartphone. This phone has a superb camera and great battery life (very important to some).
What’s to come?
iPhone XS/iPhone X Plus
Last week Apple confirmed their latest keynote event would take place on Wednesday 12 September, which, as always, means a new iPhone(s). At this stage, we can only speculate, but it’s widely expected we’ll see an ‘S’ update of the iPhone X and an X Plus too.
Google Pixel 3
The Google Pixel 3 is the worst kept secret in the world of tech right now. A series of leaks mean we already know a lot about Google’s latest flagship phone. The phone’s 6.7 display is expected to feature a notch, just like the iPhone X. It’s likely to be the phone for the camera enthusiasts out there again too. The Pixel 3 will be unveiled at a Google event on October 9.
Huawei Mate 20
The Mate 20 is a slightly better-kept secret, though Huawei did release a Mate 20 Lite recently, so a Pro version is likely. Huawei has an event scheduled for 16th October in London where they’ll reveal all.
