College Celebrates Success of Electrical Apprentices

Dumfries and Galloway College (DGC) is delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievements of two of its talented electrical apprentices, Milly Smith and Kian Richardson, who have demonstrated exceptional skill and determination in prestigious national competitions.

Milly Smith showcased her extraordinary abilities by earning a spot in the finals of SkillELECTRIC held at Oldham College, where she competed against some of the finest apprentices from across the UK. Her performance highlighted her technical expertise, creativity and commitment to excellence in the electrical trade. Milly, who works for SELECT member firm CS McKerlie Electrical Services, was highly commended for her excellent performance.

SkillELECTRIC is the annual search for the UK’s best student electrician, Held as part of the WorldSkills UK competition framework.

Meanwhile, Kian Richardson also proved his outstanding capabilities by securing an impressive second place at the Skills Electric competition in Burnley. His remarkable achievement reflects his dedication to honing his craft and his passion for delivering high-quality work.

Milly and Kian’s achievements not only highlight their personal success but also reinforce Dumfries and Galloway College’s commitment to supporting and nurturing the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Through its comprehensive apprenticeship programs and focus on hands-on learning, the college continues to empower students to excel in their chosen fields.

As Milly progresses to the finals and Kian continues his journey of growth and development, DGC extends its congratulations and unwavering support to both apprentices.
