College Nominated For Five Prizes At National Enterprise Awards

Dumfries and Galloway College (DGC) is delighted to be nominated in five categories in the prestigious Bridge 2 Business Enterprise Awards 2023.

The awards are a celebration of ‘all things enterprise’ across colleges in Scotland, designed to recognise and reward students, educators and individuals who are leading the way in enterprise.

Bridge 2 Business is Scotland’s leading enterprise programme within colleges and its aim is to get more students thinking about business start-up and to help develop their skills.

This year’s ceremony takes place on Thursday, May 11 at Glasgow Clyde College — and it promises to be an exciting occasion for staff and students from DGC, who have been nominated in the following areas:

Special Recognition Award — Kerry Kalloway (Computing Lecturer)

An educator, staff member or college student who is deserving of special recognition for their dedication, passion or development in supporting enterprise education.

College Enterprise Champion — Hannah Mason-Beattie (Beauty Lecturer)

This award will go to a college lecturer/employee or any member of college staff who is leading the way in enterprise education within their institution.

Social Enterprise Award — DGC Student Association

Recognising an innovative team of students that have created a social enterprise project or activity who can demonstrate a charitable or social enterprise-focused activity as part of a college group/project.

Enterprising Student of the Year — Josh MacDougall (NC Business Student)

A college student who has shown the most enterprising spirit and creative approach to a project or business idea.

Enterprising College of the Year — Dumfries and Galloway College

This award will go to the college that is leading the way in enterprise within Further Education throughout Scotland, with examples of enterprising team projects and initiatives that have developed the business skills and knowledge, of both students and lecturers alike.

Joanna Campbell, DGC Principal, said: “We are delighted to be finalists in five different categories at the forthcoming Bridge 2 Business Enterprise Awards.
“These nominations are much deserved and recognise the creativity and efforts of staff and students across our campuses.”
