The former council depot at Stapleton Road, Annan has been un-used for a number of years. Councillor Sean Marshall, Chair of the Enterprising DG Sub-committee and local elected member met with Enterprising DG staff to discuss the forthcoming demolition of the buildings.
The building has become a haven for nesting seagulls which have been causing a nuisance to local residents, along with becoming unsightly; the demolition of the property will kick start regeneration of the site.
Work will begin week commencing 12th March to ensure the demolition area is secure and divert power that serves local businesses. Demolition works will take place shortly after to ensure that the roof of the building is removed prior to this year’s nesting season, the works are due to take some 8 weeks.
Councillor Marshall commented “I am delighted that work will commence to demolish the Stapleton Road Depot which has not only become an eyesore but nesting seagulls have plagued nearby residents for several years.
Also there are some exciting economic opportunities that are currently being explored for this prime site by EnterprisingDG which will have a positive economic benefit for Annan and the surrounding area.”
