Dumfries and Galloway College (DGC) is thrilled to learn Emily Copeland has been shortlisted for the prestigious Foundation Apprentice of the Year prize at Skills Development Scotland’s Scottish Apprentice Awards on February 27.
Emily, who completed her Creative and Digital Media Foundation Apprenticeship while gaining invaluable work-based experience at Queen of the South Football Club, has demonstrated exemplary commitment and talent. Her hands-on placement allowed her to develop practical skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, laying the foundation for her future success.
Building on her remarkable apprenticeship journey, Emily is now furthering her education at DGC, where she is pursuing an HNC in Business. Her transition from an apprentice to a college student underscores her determination to excel in different areas and expand her experience to build a successful future.
The Foundation Apprentice of the Year award recognises outstanding individuals who have shown exceptional performance and commitment during their apprenticeships. Emily’s nomination not only celebrates her hard work, but also highlights the importance of partnerships between educational institutions and industry to foster talent and drive success.
Emily Copeland said: “Never in a million years did I think I would make it this far ─ it’s an unbelievable personal achievement to be shortlisted.
“I was very honoured when my assessor from SDC-Learn contacted me to say they were going to nominate me for this award in recognition of my hard work while on the course last year.
“I have since moved on to study HNC in Business at DGC to improve and widen my business knowledge before seeing what opportunities arise come the end of the course. I hope to progress and continue to widen my knowledge while gaining further media experience and building a diverse portfolio.”
